What Do Employers Want?
There are three basics
that employers look for when filling a position or
eliminating a
position. 1) Does
this position/person make money for the
firm? 2) Does
this position/person save money for the
firm? 3) Does
this position/person cost the firm? All
positions should either make or save a firm
money.
As the economy recovers and companies
reorganize staffing remember this
criteria.
Think like the
employer even looking at positions that
you might not consider doing either.
Take the Greater at WalMart, that person has
a great impact on whether someone feels welcomed
and a valued customer. If Grumpy
Greater greats you, next time you will probably
choose Costco, Meijers or
Target.
APPLICANTS HELPFUL HINT - make
sure you include how you made or saved your past
employers money on your resumes and cover
letters.

Helpful Hints for the
Technologically Challenged
If you are of an
age where you wonder what all the texting
shorthand means, don't
despair. I have found a great
little book titled
TMSG (Test Messaging
Survival Guide) by Evie and Jack
Shoeman. IMHO
(in my humble opinion) it is saving me the
embarrassment of not knowing what the heck someone
is trying to tell me in a text message.
To the authors I say GJ (good job).
Now if someone could help me with program
my Blackberry.

GROUND HOG PREDICTS 6
MORE WEEKS OF WINTER!
Not great headlines for Sun Worshipers, but
Great news for Snow Bunnies. The Ground Hog
report actually sounds a lot like the
"talking heads" telling us about the economy and
unemployment rates. Those of us that are
news junkies hear daily that another business is
cutting jobs, that one is going out of business,
that we are in an economic crisis, that
unemployment is at 7.2%. What we don't hear
is the GOOD NEWS -
that 92.8% of Americans are
employed, that new businesses are starting up
every day, that looking at all the economic
indicators for the first time in the past 3
months we are seeing
positives. When we stop
thinking about the negatives and look at
the positive side the outlook is much
brighter.
